BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A man who allegedly drove drunk in a crash last month that killed a 12-year-old girl has been booked into jail. Diego Godinez, 35, was booked Tuesday evening on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, DUI causing injury, reckless driving and other offenses, according to inmate records. On Nov. 22, Godinez drove a Chevy SUV that collided with a Honda sedan at the intersection of Hosking and South Union avenues, police said. Two passengers in the Honda, ages 11 and 12, were taken to a hospital with major injuries. Godinez was arrested, but was injured in the crash and wasn't booked until medically cleared. Court records show he has multiple prior convictions, including for spousal battery, assault with a deadly weapon, hit and run resulting in injury and possession of a gun by a felon.
