Code Blue alert issued in Trenton as temps drop below 30 degrees

The City of Trenton activated a Code Blue alert from December 2 through December 6, in response to temperatures expected to drop below 30 degrees.
The Sam Naples Senior Center at 611 Chestnut Avenue will operate as a warming shelter from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. each day during the alert period. The city will provide transportation and refreshments to those who need them.
“During this critical time, I’m urging all Trentonians to look out for one another,” said Mayo Reed Gusciora. “Please share this important information with everyone to help ensure the safety and well-being of our residents.
Residents who need transportation to the center can call 609-989-3462. The public can report people experiencing unsheltered homelessness to the Trenton Police Department at 609-989-4000.
The Rescue Mission of Trenton at 89 Ewing Street serves as the designated Code Blue shelter for Mercer County. The facility will remain open 24 hours during the alert, expanding from its standard 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. schedule. For information about the Rescue Mission, call 609-695-1436.
