Winter weather advisory for New York until early Friday morning – up to 5 inches of snow

A winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 4:23 a.m. valid from 10 p.m. until Friday 4 a.m. for Seneca, Cayuga and Tompkins counties."Total snow accumulations between 3 and 5 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph," can be expected according to the weather service. "Embedded snow squalls may reduce visibility to near zero at times Thursday morning. Winds will become increasingly gusty Thursday, as the event transitions to lake effect snow."
