(KRON) -- A Sonoma County park ranger was killed in a murder-suicide last week, multiple county authorities announced Tuesday. Katranne "Kat" Pringle, 38, was found dead in a home east of Santa Rosa on Thanksgiving Eve.
Pringle was killed by a former colleague who killed himself after fatally shooting her on the 2000 block of Weeks Ranch Road, east of Santa Rosa.

"Kat was a dedicated and knowledgeable ranger who brought passion and warmth to everything she did. We will remember her for her absolute professionalism and commitment to serving her parks, her community and her co-workers," Sonoma County Regional Parks wrote on Facebook.
Pringle joined the parks service as an aide in 2017 and was promoted to ranger a year later. She worked at parks throughout the county.
She also was an EMT and was certified as a defensive tactics instructor.
"Fearless yet compassionate and fun yet focused, Kat was well-liked by all and a role model for many, especially younger team members who emulated her dependability and attention to detail. At 38, her life and career were cut far too short, but she leaves a legacy of service and care that will not be forgotten at Sonoma County Regional Parks," the parks service wrote.
Pringle leaves behind a 22-year-old son. Loved ones set up a GoFundMe to support her family.
