NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish is investigating a case of poaching. They said three cow elk were shot and left to waste in GMU 21A, west of Poverty Creek on NM Highway 59 near Mile Post 10.

They said there was not an antlerless elk hunt scheduled at that time and the meat was left to waste. Anyone with information is asked to call the Operation Game Thief hotline at 1-800-423-4263 or online here. A cash reward is available for information that leads to a conviction.
