NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A pedestrian is dead following a crash that happened in New Orleans East on Tuesday evening, Dec. 3. According to the New Orleans Police Department, the crash, which happened on Interstate 510 South near the Lake Forrest Boulevard exit, was reported at 6:09 p.m. On scene, officers found a man lying in the road after having been hit by a car. The car that hit him was stopped nearby, as the driver had called the police to report that he had hit an "unknown object" in the left lane. Third person arrested in OPSO internal fraud investigation New Orleans Emergency Services pronounced the man dead at the scene. Police say that neither speed nor impairment seem to have been factors in the crash, and so the driver was not charged with any violations.
