EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- El Paso Water crews are reporting progress on repairing a water main leak and restoring service to residents in West El Paso, the utility said late Tuesday night, Dec. 3.
Crews installed a water valve that is crucial to restoring water service to hundreds of customers impacted by a main leak at Ojo de Agua and Via Descanso.
EPISD expects water issue to be resolved, class to be held at 3 campuses Wednesday
The utility estimates that customers will have water service by early Wednesday, but some areas may still experience low pressure.
Meanwhile, repairs to the 30-inch main continue and the area will remain an active construction site.
El Paso Water says it has been in communication with El Paso Independent School District on its progress.
EPISD, in a separate news release, said it expects classes to resume Wednesday at Lundy and Tippin Elementary schools and Hornedo Middle School but with a two-hour delay.
Water tankers and gallons of water will continue to be made available to impacted customers.
"We would like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding during this time," said Gilbert Trejo, vice president of operations and technical services for the utility. "We also want to acknowledge dozens of utility employees working around the clock to tackle a challenging excavation and valve repair. Crews will continue working until service is fully restored."
Utility officials continue to investigate the cause of the water main leak.
