APD identifies man in East Wonsley Drive homicide

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The Austin Police Department identified the victim in a north Austin homicide that happened last week, the agency said in a news release Tuesday.
Officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of East Wonsley Drive for a shoot/stab hot shot call shortly before 11 p.m. on Nov. 25, the release said.

When officers arrived, they said they found a man shot dead inside the residence. Police identified that man as Xavier Jones Jr., 20.
"The initial investigation showed multiple unknown subjects had forced entry into the apartment by shooting the sliding glass door, shooting and killing Jones in the process," APD said in the release. "The subjects then stole jewelry from Jones' person before fleeing the scene."
This is now being investigated as Austin's 65th homicide of 2024, according to police.

"A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for any information that leads to an arrest," police said.
