Maryland Delegate Brooke Grossman to step down
Dec 03, 2024
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (DC News Now) -- Hagerstown's delegate to the Maryland General Assembly is stepping down.
Delegate Brooke Grossman (D-2B) said she is moving out of the district for family reasons, making her ineligible to hold the seat.
Grossman vows to remain active in community affairs. She was elected to a four-year term in 2022.
"It was a difficult decision, but my family always comes first, and I am excited to see who the central committee appoints to this position and offer as much support and help to them as I can," she said.

One of Grossman's recent bills, if passed, would require the renaming of all public streets in the state that recognize leaders from the Confederacy.
The Democratic State Central Committee will meet in just over a week to choose Grossman's successor. Governor Wes Moore will likely then appoint that nominee to fill the vacant House of Delegates seat.
