MERCED, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Merced's The Bus will be offering free rides to all passengers until the end of the year on all its routes and services, the Merced County Association of Governments announced. The funds for the free rides will come from the Low Carbon Operations Program, which will allow passengers to enjoy unlimited transportation at no cost during the holiday season. Residents in Merced are not the only ones who will benefit from free rides; additionally, officials say the Stanislaus Regional Transit Authority and Turlock Transit will be providing free rides during the month of December, allowing residents within both Stanislaus and Merced counties to travel seamlessly within the region. “We hope that residents will take this opportunity to try the various services and routes offered by The Bus and choose to keep riding into the New Year as a regular mode of transportation," said Serenity Anderson, director of the Transit Joint Powers Authority of Merced County, which operates The Bus.
