IRS warns of tax schemes spreading on social media
Dec 03, 2024
CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - The IRS has issued a warning about the growing threat of bad tax advice on social media.
According to the agency, these schemes take many different forms and make false promises of bigger refunds. One popular scheme involves people trying to use legitimate tax forms for the wrong reasons.
The IRS says fake claims like these can lead to real refunds being delayed. If you have doubts about a particular tax credit, the IRS recommends seeking advice from a qualified tax professional.
