Quiet weather continues across New Mexico
Dec 03, 2024
This stretch of quiet and mild weather continues into the first week of December. A weak low pressure system will bring spotty showers into southern New Mexico Thursday and Friday.
Areas of dense fog that developed this morning in eastern New Mexico cleared up by early this afternoon. There are still some low clouds hovering around southern parts of the state this afternoon. Temperatures are again similar to what we had yesterday, with many areas still climbing above average for early December. This quiet weather will continue into Wednesday morning, with clearer conditions to start the day. For many of us, Wednesday will be our warmest day this week.
A weak cold front will be moving in later in the day and will bring a slight drop in our temperatures for Thursday. This will also combine with a weak low pressure system approaching New Mexico, drawing up some moisture into southern parts of the state. These light afternoon showers will return again on Friday. A few flurries could also mix in with the rain for the mountains in southern New Mexico as well. Drier and mild weather will return this weekend, with an uptick in the winds across eastern New Mexico on Sunday.
Our weather gets more active again through early next week with a storm system that will be diving down into New Mexico from the north. As of right now, this storm looks to bring some much colder air into the state by next Tuesday, along with breezy to windy weather by Monday. It also looks like it will bring snow back to New Mexico, with the highest confidence of accumulating snowfall right now in northern and northeastern New Mexico.
