NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — The city of New Bedford is bringing back its holiday parking program, offering free parking in its busy downtown area.
Drivers will get two hours of free parking at the Elm Street Garage and the Zeiterion Garage, as well as two hours of free parking at meters along Acushnet Avenue in the North End.
The program also offers ticket forgiveness for holiday shoppers and diners.
Drivers who receive a parking ticket for an expired meter downtown can be forgiven by presenting a same-day sales receipt for at least $10 from a downtown restaurant or business.
You must present or mail the receipt to the Traffic Commission Office in the Elm Street Garage within 21 days of receipt of a ticket.
The Traffic Commission is located at 51 Elm Street and is open from Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
