MassDOT extends deadline for 'Name a Snowplow' contest
Dec 03, 2024
BOSTON (WPRI) — Students in Massachusetts now have another week to come up with fun names for the state's fleet of snowplows.
Through this year's "Name a Snowplow" contest, up to a dozen vehicles will be named before they go into service for the upcoming winter.
On Tuesday, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation announced that the deadline has been pushed back to 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13.
The submissions will be split into two groups: kindergarten through fourth grade and fifth grade through eighth grade. The submissions will be judged by a panel of MassDOT employees, and two winners will be selected from each of the six Highway Division districts.
There's no limit to how many names can be submitted, according to MassDOT.
The winning entries will be announced on Friday, Dec. 20.
Last year’s winners included The Mayplower, Snow B Wan Kenobi, Sleetwood Mac, Edward Blizzardhands and Snow-hemian Rhapsody.
