ST. CHARLES PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Three former St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office employees were sentenced in a felony theft and payroll fraud case on Tuesday, Dec. 3. The St. Charles Parish District Attorney's Office reported that Rodney Madere Jr., Zain Stillinger and Derek Pertuis pled guilty to felony theft between $5,000 to $25,000, abuse of office and public payroll fraud. Kenner mother arrested after children allegedly test positive for cocaine In July, the St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office reported that Madere, Stillinger and Pertuis were arrested on allegations of misappropriating and misusing sheriff's office resources, equipment and manpower. On Tuesday, the district attorney's office stated that the three former employees pled guilty and were sentenced. Madere was sentenced to 10 years for felony theft, five years for abuse of office and two years for public payroll fraud to be served concurrently. He was also sentenced to 12 months of home incarceration with an ankle monitor and to pay $75,000 to the state in restitution and a $5,000 fine. Former Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office employee accused of fraud Pertuis was sentenced to five years for the felony theft charge, five years for the abuse of office charge and two years for the public payroll fraud charge to be served concurrently. He was also sentenced to six months of home incarceration with an ankle monitor and to pay $2,716 in restitution to the state and a $5,000 fine. Stillinger was sentenced to five years for the felony theft charge, five years for the abuse of office charge and two years for the public payroll fraud to be served concurrently.
