Police were conducting a code enforcement clean up at the Tew Lodge off Central and Alvarado. Garcia was cuffed and placed in a police unit. Garcia told officers he had a gun and a struggle for the gun ensued, that's when Garcia was shot and killed. A spokesperson for APD says they already held two news conferences covering the details of the shooting. [2] UNM investigating incident involving men’s basketball players on plane - UNM is investigating an alleged incident between two men's basketball players. KRQE News 13 spoke with the attorney of the suspected victim, who claimed he was punched by one of his teammates on a plane while the team was traveling to the Acrisure Classic tournament in southern California before Thanksgiving. The attorney said the incident took place over a seat and the player who threw the punch was allowed to play in both games afterward. UNM released a statement saying they are aware of the incident and are carefully reviewing all the facts. They also say they are following appropriate protocols and procedures to address the situation. UNM would not confirm who the players are, citing FERPA privacy laws. [3] Mild but foggy out east, dry weather elsewhere - Despite occasional afternoon clouds with low-level clouds in the southeastern corner of the region, conditions will remain mostly dry with afternoon temperatures similar or slightly higher than yesterday. Only some passing occasional clouds will ensue for the next couple of days for most with higher afternoon temperatures. Then, later this week, a storm system from the west will move into southern areas, bringing in some localized rainfall. [4] Albuquerque Museum lobby named in honor of former mayor - Mayor Tim Keller and city officials named the lobby of the Albuquerque museum after the city’s 27th mayor, Jim Baca. During is tenure, Baca helped the museum expand with new art exhibitions, the creation of multi-purpose space for public programs, and the museum’s cafe and store. He served as Albuquerque’s mayor from 1997 to 2001. [5] Tumbleweed snowman will be put up in Albuquerque on Tuesday - The Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority is setting up the nearly 14-foot tall tumbleweed snowman on the north side of the interstate, just before the University exit. The tradition of putting up the snowman began in 1995. Officials say the snowman is always put up on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
