The Detroit Lions might be dealing with an exorbitant amount of injuries on defense, but it’s business as usual at Allen Park, as they prepare for their “Thursday Night Football” matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Since their last loss to the Lions, the Packers have won three straight with convincing wins against the 49ers and Dolphins in their previous two games. Today’s Question of the Day is… Which Lions player is poised for a big game against the Packers? On offense, I think David Montgomery will have another big game against Green Bay. It seems like every time these two teams meet, the Lions love to lean on Knuckles. Since 2023, when both players were acquired, the Lions have split the carries fairly evenly. Gibbs has 345 carries and 425 total touches in 27 games, while Montgomery has 385 carries and 428 touches in 26 games. However, in their three games against the Packers, Montgomery has 64 rushing attempts and 69 total touches compared to Gibbs’ 30 rushing attempts and 39 total touches. Quite a bit of a difference. It makes sense, though, when you consider how physical these games have been. When the Lions have had their way with the Packers, they have dominated the line of scrimmage. That is where Montgomery shines, and I expect him to have another strong performance against Green Bay. On the defensive side of the ball, I’m taking Jack Campbell. The last time these two teams met, Campbell turned in a career high 13 tackles and was an absolute force when stopping the run. The Lions could really use that same type of performance from their MIKE linebacker to make the Packers have to rely on the arm of Jordan Love. Let’s hear from you.
