Snowfall rates 2-3" per hour within LES bands will meander south of Buffalo and across the Tug Hill throughout Saturday and Sunday. There will be areas that see over two feet of snow within the heaviest snow bands. This may include Orchard Park, where the Bills play Sunday night.
Bills v 49ers could be a major snow game
Rochester is breezy with a mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures are in the 20s and 30s with wind chills falling into the teens at times. Occasional snowflakes will fly as the snow band off Erie brushes into Monroe County, but most of the weekend is dry.
A major lake effect snow event is now getting underway.Snow bands off Lake Ontario and Lake Erie will dump feet of snow in spots through Sunday night. Expect extremely difficult travel within these snow bands that focus along I-90 south of Buffalo and I-81 along the Tug Hill. pic.twitter.com/biX79GWGew— James Gilbert (@JamesGilbertWX) November 29, 2024
A ripple in the overall jet stream pattern comes on Monday, veering the wind northwest. This will bring the Lake Ontario snow band across Rochester and Monroe County. A blast of snow will probably happen at some point throughout the day. It should be cold enough to accumulate with lows firmly in the 20s and highs in the low 30s. Expect LES showers to impact our region through Tuesday. Expect a snowy stretch as well Wednesday through Friday as a few clippers slip by the Great Lakes.
