HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Two hikers in their 20s were safely rescued Friday morning after becoming lost on the Lulumahu Falls Trail in Nuuanu.

On November 28, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD)received a 911 call at 6:30 p.m. reporting hikers were lost after hiking for about four hours.
A total of five HFD units, staffed with 17 personnel, responded to the scene.
Due to dangerous weather conditions, the search was temporarily suspended at 7:30 p.m. and resumed at dawn the following day.

HFD resumed the search at 6:31 a.m. on November 29, 2024, following a suspended effort the previous evening due to high winds.
The first hiker was airlifted to safety at 7:06 a.m., and emergency medical services took over care once they were safely at the landing zone.
The search operation included an airlift rescue, with HFD’s Air 1 inserting personnel at the hikers' location. A medical evaluation confirmed that neither hiker had sustained any injuries.
