BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Hope Shop by Hands Producing Hope plans to close the Government Street location in December.
The Hope Shop, located at 3115 Government St., released a statement on its social media page about the closing.
"We have loved having a stand alone brick and mortar the past 4.5 years and all that it has done to cultivate community and make shopping ethically more accessible in Baton Rouge. But it is sadly not financially sustainable for us to keep it open. We tried for as long as we could, but the sales simply aren't there. And in order for our organization as a whole to survive, we have to make this pivot."

According to the shop's website, most of the items featured on the website are made by HPH artisans, while others are a curated selection of ethically made goods from around the world. The shop offers apparel, shoes, accessories, home goods, jewelry, gifts and paper goods.

"Many items we have will not be restocked, so come get them while you can," said The Hope Shop in a social media post.
