The Lululemon Turkey Trot offered Parkites a chilly-morning chance to get outside and get active at Matt Knoop Memorial Park in Park City. Families from across the country came to celebrate the day with volunteers at 9 a.m. on Thursday. “We’re visiting from Denver,” said Erin Kinsey, in town to visit her sister, Alli, who recently moved to Park City. “We do a turkey trot every year and just had to find one here to make sure we could do it.” The local Lululemon store hosts and manages the trot, and it’s free of charge, though participants are encouraged to bring donations of nonperishable goods to the Christian Center of Park City. Some were just there to spend some time with family and friends, enjoying the scenery with a cup of coffee and a leisurely stroll, others came in full turkey costumes and ready to win the race. Finley Thomas got to the park early wearing an inflatable turkey costume, inspired by his father, who once wore the costume for a six-mile long turkey trot back in their home state of Texas. “I just pulled it out this morning and decided I had to wear it. It’s perfect. It’s very hot, though. There’s no way I’ll be running in this,” said Thomas. Two unicorns and their dad run the loop at the Park City turkey trot.
