NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)— The Bayou Classic is more than a rivalry match-up between Louisiana's two largest historically black universities. There is also a financial benefit for students. According to Brandon A. Logan, Grambling Vice President of University Advancement & Innovation, "In terms of the university benefiting, how does the university benefit from the classic? Well, there's, layers of benefit, not only the game, the concessions and, general operations we receive, but we also have a gala the evening before the game called Kicks Ball and kicks ball is situated, at the Hilton Riverside, with the focus of raising money for the Gap Scholarship fund. Gap scholarship is truly fill in the gap between what a student has available in funds and what is owed to the university." Information on the gala is available at GSUkicksball.com. "We already have over 600 people that have purchased tickets and sponsorships. And I must say, I'm so thankful to our presenting sponsor, Adidas, for their capital investment and all the continued work that they do to elevate the brand of Grambling State University," said Logan.
