These were the coldest places in Colorado Friday morning
Nov 29, 2024
DENVER (KDVR) -- The snow stopped before Thanksgiving, but Colorado is still experiencing winter weather with temperatures dropping as low as almost negative 30 degrees in some areas on Friday morning.
Snow swept across Colorado earlier this week, leaving several feet of snow, hundreds of delayed flights and traffic jams before Thanksgiving. While the snow let up on Wednesday and Thanksgiving was sunny, the below-freezing temperatures are back before the weekend.
This November was one of the snowiest in Denver history
The National Weather Service said that clearing skies and fresh snow helped temperatures drop in low-lying areas where the cold air sinks, putting temperatures in some areas across the state well below freezing and even in the negatives.

These aren't the first negative temperatures this month. On Nov. 20, temperatures reached as low as negative 12 degrees across the state. Meanwhile, Denver dipped into the mid-teens, making it the coldest in over 200 days.
While Denver temperatures are nowhere near the coldest in the state, it was still below freezing in the city on Friday morning as well. Denver reached 17 degrees Friday morning, which is about 5 degrees below average for this time of year, according to the Pinpoint Weather team.
The Pinpoint Weather team is tracking a warm-up that would reach up to the upper 50s heading into December, however, once the sun goes down, temperatures are expected to stay below freezing for the rest of the week.
