BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Yesterday's Thanksgiving high wasn't able to get past 59 degrees in Bakersfield, with a layer of low clouds known as a "stratus deck" stuck over the valley blocking that Fall sunshine. That helped to stop dense fog from forming in the morning, but as the clouds slowly broke apart later in the day, that dense fog was able to form overnight into this morning. As a result, there is a dense fog advisory until noon today, with areas of fog that are creating a quarter mile of visibility or less this morning. With calm conditions the next several days and very saturated soil from rain earlier this week, we are expecting more fog each morning through the weekend. There's a rex block pattern in place over the Pacific, meaning we aren't going to be able to pick up the rain showers we were hoping for tonight into tomorrow. Instead, expect dry conditions through the weekend, with the long range forecast not calling for any rain chances for Kern County through all of next week.
