Gil’s Tires is getting a facelift Back in 2018, I took some photographs of the first Spurs mural I noticed. It’s located just down the road from me at Gil’s Tires on San Pedro. It was a mural of Manu Ginobili commemorating his recent retirement from basketball. This original article kicked off a search for more murals and eventually led to a series of pieces listing the places around town where these Spurs tributes are located. Recently, on my way to work, I noticed that the Ginobili tribute, which had peeled over the years, had been replaced. It is in the early phases, but the new mural is focused on Victor Wembanyama. Jeph Duarte I reached out to the artist and confirmed it is the same mural artist who painted the Manu mural. I am now being looped in with the team who will be working on it and should be allowed to cover as progress is made. I’ll keep you updated. Welcome to The Thread.
