Januarylike temperatures through the weekend
Nov 29, 2024
After seeing rain Wednesday night into Thursday morning, Thanksgiving saw scattered lake-effect rain/snow/sleet. More lake-effect snow will be possible today, mainly north of Fort Wayne, as we tap into a much colder pattern.
Drought Conditions Improve
Temperatures are plummeting through the 20s this morning as cold air rushes in from the west. Our coldest moments will arrive around sunrise when we'll be in the lower bounds of mid-20s in Fort Wayne.
Temperatures will stay in the 20s all day long, marking a very cold Black Friday. If you're heading out shopping, have a heavy coat, gloves, and a winter hat handy.
Skies will be mostly cloudy for Black Friday as more clouds blow off of Lake Michigan. We'll see windy conditions as well with westerly winds gusting up to 30 mph today, so secure those holiday decorations!
As mentioned, we'll see more chances for lake-effect snow showers today, but with a more westerly component to today's winds, the best chances will be north of Fort Wayne. A few stray snow showers will still be possible for the rest of our area.
Mid-20s with stray snow showers across the area at 9 AM.Continuing chances for snow showers entering the afternoon.Upper 20s for highs with chances for snow showers.
Lake effect snow showers look to avoid the area on Saturday, with more chances returning on Sunday and Monday. Overnight lows stay brutally cold, even for the end of November, with lows in the teens for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday early mornings. Overnight wind chills get into the single digits.
Very cold for the weekend, and still cold to start the new week.
Temperatures slowly rise throughout the upcoming week, finally hitting the freezing mark on Tuesday, but still quite below average to start December in the temperature department, so keep hold of those hats and gloves.
