Manhattan plumbers save $8,000 wedding ring child accidentally flushed down toilet

MANHATTAN (KSNT) - A Manhattan plumber made the save of a lifetime after a child flushed a parent's wedding ring down the toilet.
Austin Reed with De Hart Plumbing based out of Manhattan specializes in plumbing and HVAC services. He recently got the unique request to pull an $8,000 wedding ring that was more than 20 feet down a drain.
Reed used a miniature camera and a wire to retrieve the ring and reunited it with its owner. The entire process took almost two hours.
"When something goes down a sewer line it's usually gone," Reed said. "I could kind of just see the pale faces and the 'oh no, this is going to end up being a very expensive situation.' So, I figured it was in the homeowner's best interest and my best interest to at least attempt to fish it out."
