Pedestrian killed in St. Tammany Parish crash

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a vehicle in St. Tammany Parish on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
According to the Louisiana State Police, troopers with Troop L began investigating the crash, which happened on US Highway 11 near 5th Avenue, around 11:45 p.m.

The initial investigation shows that a 2008 Nissan Titan was reportedly heading north on the highway when 61-year-old Samuel Harris Jr., of Slidell, was walking in the same lane as the truck.
For reasons that are still being investigated, the truck hit Harris, who was fatally injured and was pronounced dead on scene.
The driver of the Nissan was properly restrained and uninjured. Routine toxicology samples were taken from both him and Harris as part of the ongoing investigation.
