The National Weather Service issued an updated winter storm warning at 4:17 a.m. on Thursday in effect until 10 p.m. for Oneida, Madison and Cortland counties."Total snow accumulations between 4 and 9 inches, locally up to 10 inches over the higher elevations," states the weather service. "Valley locations in the advisory are forecast to receive between 2 to 5 inches of snow, with 5 to 10 inches expected over the higher elevations. This will be a dense, wet snowfall. Scattered power outages are possible. The steadiest snow will fall between 4 a.m. and 7 p.m. today."
