OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - Oklahomans will begin seeing Route 66 signage pop up in numerous landmarks and districts in preparation for The Centennial of Route 66.
Signs will be placed up along the iconic Route 66 road like the one (shown below) just installed in the uptown district. Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt shared the photo unveiling the signage on social media along Northwest 23.

Mayor Holt posted on his social platform "X" saying, "Highlighting our connection to Route 66 is important, and nothing does that more plainly than a great sign. Today, in the Uptown District on NW 23rd, we unveiled the first of a new generation of signs."
The iconic highway turns 100 in 2026.
