Weather forecast: Happy Thanksgiving! Our first snow of the season
Nov 28, 2024
ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - Rain and snow is falling right now across the region. The only snow that will stick will be on grassy surfaces as surface temperatures run just a few degrees above freezing. Precipitation ends by the evening.
Lake effect mode ramps up going into Friday and the weekend. The focus will be a west wind that keeps snow generally east of Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. Snow will really pile up in these areas as they may see a few feet of snow through Sunday night. Just flakes around Rochester and Monroe County throughout this period. It is breezy with temperatures mostly in the 20s and low 30s. Wind chills will hang in the teens and low 20s.
We get our snow early next week. There are signs of a veering wind that will flow out of the northwest, bringing LES bands into Monroe County. Expect snow locally for both Monday and Tuesday that could be plowable. We then expect another blast of snow Wednesday into Thursday that will bring area-wide snow, yielding several inches on the ground.
