FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Governor Gavin Newsom announced on Wednesday 19 pardons, one of them for a Fresno County woman.
In 2001, Maricela Easley was sentenced to three years probation and nine days in jail for using methamphetamine in the presence of her child.

According to the governor's office, Easley submitted a formal application for executive clemency in the form of a gubernatorial pardon. Easley provided evidence to state officials that she is living an upright life and has demonstrated her fitness for the restoration of civic rights and responsibilities.
The act of clemency does not forgive her conduct but recognizes the work she has done to transform herself.
The pardon was signed on Nov. 27 by Governor Gavin Newsom.
