FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE) - The KSEE24 Turkey Drive wrapped up Tuesday night, after a full day of receiving donations from all over the Central Valley. In total, 1,951 turkeys were handed over and more than $92,000 in financial donations were received during the KSEE24 Turkey Drive.  The contributions of turkeys, non-perishable food items, and financial donations all went to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Fresno, which handed out turkeys and holiday meal boxes to over 1,800 families in need on Wednesday. "I can't afford it," said Beverlly Russ, who received one of the turkeys at the distribution event. "I pay my rent and I can't afford to go grocery shopping when I want, buy things that work. I have to get exactly what I need, make it stretch." Organizers with Catholic Charities say the meals not only provide nourishment but also the opportunity for families to gather around the table and celebrate Thanksgiving with dignity and hope.
