Decadelong vacant Russian Hill building finds new tenant
Nov 27, 2024
SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- For years, Lombardi Sports in Russian Hill has been San Franciscans' staple for their sporting goods needs. The store had operated at 1932 Polk St. since 1993 before eventually closing in 2014.
The two-story, 43,950-square-foot building has been vacant since -- until now.
Fitness SF has been approved to take over the space as the new tenant after a decade-long vacancy, the San Francisco Planning Commission told KRON4. The gym's application was approved in a letter written by city planners on Nov. 18.
No opening date has been set for this location.

The Fitness SF will have a proposed 60 parking spaces in a free garage attached to the building, according to city planning documents. There will also be 10 bicycle spaces available.
The estimated construction cost for Fitness SF to move into the space is $3,275,000, according to city documents.
The Russian Hill location would be the San Francisco-based gym chain's seventh in the city. There are also Fitness SF gyms in Marin and Oakland.
Fitness SF was founded by brothers Zsolt and Sebastyen Jackovics in 2012 after previously being owners of four Gold's Gym franchise locations, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
KRON4 reached out to Fitness SF for more information about the opening. We did not receive a response in time for publication.
