KING AND QUEEN COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A jury trial has now been scheduled for a 62-year-old man arrested in connection to a 33-year-old cold case. Jennie Lee Johnson of King and Queen County. Fortune, of Tappahannock, was arrested by Virginia State Police on Oct. 10, 2024, following an indictment from a grand jury for rape and malicious wounding charges in connection to the death of Jennie Lee Johnson in King and Queen County. Johnson was last seen leaving her friend's home on Nov. 22, 1991, but she never returned home. On the very next day, her body was found in a field near Newtown Road, according to police. Fortune appeared in King and Queen County Circuit Court on Wednesday, Nov. 27, for a status hearing. He is now scheduled for a two-day jury trial beginning on March 27, 2025.
