Arctic air moves in after Thanksgiving
Nov 27, 2024
After a few above average days earlier this week, we're set to turn much colder across northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio. We're talking our first arctic blast of the season...get ready for highs in the 20s and lows in the teens!
Before this frigid air arrives though, we'll enjoy our Thanksgiving holiday. Any overnight precipitation will have tapered off and we'll become partly cloudy by daybreak. Temperatures will be as low as the lower 30s to get the holiday started.
We're dry and in the 30s by daybreak on Thanksgiving.
Overall, Thanksgiving will not be too bad of a day, as we'll experience some sunshine during the morning! By the afternoon though, we become overcast once again and there is the slight chance for a rain or snow shower. None of this precipitation will impact your holiday travel plans, with high temperatures topping out around 40 degrees.

By Thursday night though, the cold air really starts to settle in. We drop down into the 20s and winds will continue to increase. This will kick up the lake effect snow machine off of Lake Michigan and therefore we'll see occasional snow showers into our Friday. Winds during the day Friday will gust up to 30 mph. The best chances for this lake effect snow will be found in our northern communities. We won't even see air temperatures leave the 20s on Friday, so you'll really want to bundle up.
