Richland Co., SC (WOLO) — The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a single car crash that claimed the life of one of the passengers riding inside of the vehicle. According to Master Trooper William Bennett with SCHP the accident took place Tuesday night around 11:17 pm. Officials say the driver of a 2022 Toyota Camry was traveling South on SC-277 , about 7 miles North of Columbia. Highway Patrol says the driver of the car ran off the left side of the road, went over three lanes of traffic along Interstate 20 West, stopping after the car crashed into the median barrier. Officials say four people were in the car at the time of the accident, including the driver and three passengers. The driver and one of the people riding inside of the car were transported to an area hospital to be treated for their injuries. Authorities say one of the passengers inside of the car was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues investigating what caused the car to veer of the road causing the deadly crash.     Categories: Local News, News, Richland
