DC police officer dies after 'courageous battle with illness,' department says

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is mourning the death of an officer.
On Wednesday, Nov. 27, MPD announced the death of officer LaCarsha Garrett. The department said Garrett died after her "courageous battle with illness."

Garrett was a 16-year MPD veteran, serving the force since 2008. She was a member of the seventh district's administrative staff.
"Our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones during this difficult time," wrote MPD.
