(KRON) -- Three teenage suspects have been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting in San Jose last month, the San Jose Police Department announced Wednesday. On Oct. 27 at around 2:38 a.m., SJPD patrol officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 100 block of South Second Street. At the scene, officers found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Officers administered medical aid and called for medical personnel. Despite these efforts, the victim died at the scene. Police said a rifle was located at the scene and booked as evidence. SJPD detectives assisted by the Covert Response Unit, arrested the juvenile suspect in San Jose. At the time, the juvenile was in possession of an automatic firearm concealed on his person, police said. Photo: San Jose PD He was booked into Santa Clara Juvenile Hall for murder. Detectives also discovered that Medina was already in custody at Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for unrelated charges. Homicide detectives took custody of him and booked him into the Santa Clara County Jail for murder. Nieto, it was found out, was also in custody for unrelated charges in Stanislaus County. He was served an arrest warrant for murder pending extradition back to Santa Clara County. Police say the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation. The victim's identity will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office following confirmation and notification of next of kin. The incident marked San Jose's 26th homicide of 2024.
