RICHMOND, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island State Police said it is investigating a fatal crash that took place on Interstate 95 in Richmond. A two-car crash occurred around 2 p.m. and a medical helicopter, which was not used, had to land on the highway near Exit 9. The driver and passenger of one vehicle had minor injuries, while the driver of the second car had life-threatening injuries and was declared deceased at the hospital. Both sides of the highway were briefly blocked during the response. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the Hope Valley Barracks at 401-444-1068.
