Nov 27, 2024
WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — A bobcat was seen outside a West Warwick home for the third time this month.
A resident of East Greenwich Avenue sent 12 News security camera footage of the bobcat roaming through their driveway.
The most recent sighting, according to the footage, was early Wednesday morning, with the other two taking place on Nov. 9 and Nov. 26. It's unclear if it's the same bobcat in all three videos.

The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) asked the public to report any wildlife sightings on its website.
The DEM said it’s not unusual to see a bobcat out in neighborhoods during the day, since rabbits and other small mammals are their main food source.
"Merely seeing a bobcat is not a cause for alarm," the DEM said. "Bobcats are typically wary of people and will not remain in an area for long; they are unlikely to pose any threat to people or pets and provide a vital role in controlling small mammal populations."
Here are some more tips from the DEM:
Do not leave pets outside unattended, even for a short amount of time. All pets should be kept indoors unless supervised.
Fully enclose and secure outdoor pet enclosures.
Keep dogs on a leash six feet or less when outside.
Do not feed pets outside, or, if you do, take pet food dishes inside at night.
Most importantly, make sure all cats and dogs are vaccinated against rabies and up to date on their shots.
Make sure you have the contact information for your local Animal Control.Officer and your veterinarian, in the case of an emergency.
Pet owners should report any observed or suspected contact between pets and wildlife to their local Animal Control Officer, veterinarian, and DEM.
