Taunton police: Suspect in custody after shooting at officers

TAUNTON, Mass. (WPRI) — A Taunton man is in police custody after allegedly shooting at officers on Wednesday morning.
Taunton Police Chief Edward Walsh said the suspect barricaded himself in a bathroom and shot at police after they responded to the home on Hodges Avenue.
According to Walsh, the suspect was not hit, nor were any officers hit.
Police evacuated the multi-family home and the surrounding area. Officers made contact with the suspect and convinced him to surrender without further incident.

A person who lives in the house told 12 News he heard a commotion on the third floor around 9 a.m. He said the shooting appeared to stem from a domestic disturbance.
The resident called police and later heard the gunshots.
Police said the shooting was likely an isolated incident. It remains under investigation.
