MEMPHIS, Tenn. — We have a happy ending to a story we brought you this summer, when local mother of three Falicia Green had her SNAP benefits stolen not once, but twice. But now, just in time for Thanksgiving, she's received some of that money back. Memphis mother of 3 has SNAP benefits stolen twice "I didn't believe it because it came while I was at work, so I'd didn't have a chance to read it fully," she said. "I just got a glimpse of the amount and reimbursement. I read those two words and I was like, ok." Green had been struggling to feed her children after falling victim to SNAP benefit theft. Despite reporting the incidents, she was left waiting for reimbursement. "I went a total of seven months, almost eight, without reimbursement the first time. Since then it's been ok since I have a job. It's been balanced but it was hard during that time," she said. But now, with some of her money back, she's able to provide for her family this holiday season. Green says she can now cook a Thanksgiving dinner for her children, something's she's always wanted to do. "I'm cooking baked chicken, ham, greens, yams and green beans and cornbread," she said. "Yup it's my first time doing it at my house this year, so I'm excited about doing it with my family and my kids." Memphis mom with disabled child says EBT card stolen Green encourages everyone dealing with this same issue to stay on top of messages from the Department of Human Services. "A lot of people say don't get the app. I say the app keeps you in touch with what's on your card so you know when something's gone," she said. "And staying in touch with DHS even though they can't give much information just staying on top of them about it letting them know you still want your benefits."
