GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - Not everyone has the opportunity to get a quality Thanksgiving meal, but those with the Greater Green Bay Salvation Army are working to eliminate those shortcomings. On Wednesday, November 27, people with the Greater Green Bay Salvation Army gave a helping hand to those in need by holding a special Thanksgiving lunch for their patrons. The lunch was complete with turkey, mashed potatoes, and all the fixings. Sweetening the season: Oshkosh students bake 540 pies for a Thanksgiving cause Organizers say they are grateful that so many volunteers helped sign up to help with this Holiday meal. "The Holidays are a time when people who are fortunate to give their time really show up," said Becky Darrow, Director of Social Services for the Greater Green Bay Salvation Army. "We have a lot of people here today, we serve well over 150 people, if not more. So having volunteers to help us with serving, helping wash dishes, that's all a key part to our lunch program." Staff and volunteers will get a break for Thanksgiving and the Friday after as the Salvation Army building will be closed.
