APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) - Firefighters quickly worked to put out a residential fire on Wednesday morning in Appleton, limiting the damages to roughly $20,000. According to the Appleton Fire Department, crews were sent to the 2000 block of North Eugene Street around 11:30 a.m. on November 27. The initial call described smoke and flames seen coming from the kitchen of the home. When fire crews arrived, they found a fire on the stove and quickly put it out within five minutes. Two people arrested following traffic stop in Fond du Lac, over 150 grams of various drugs seized No injuries were reported, however, the fire caused an estimated $20,000 in damages. The Appleton Fire Department would like to remind residents to practice safe cooking.  Never leave cooking unattended, do not store combustibles on top of stoves, and minimize distractions in the kitchen.
