AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A man was convicted of murder after he entered a guilty plea for a March 2021 shooting that happened in north Austin, according to court documents. Jose Negrete was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Oct. 23 for the shooting that happened March 28, 2021, at the WoodSpring Suites Austin. PAST STORY | APD identifies man killed at north Austin hotel The Austin Police Department responded to the hotel and found 40-year-old Brandon Williams with gunshot wounds inside a room. He was taken to a local hospital but later died from his injuries, according to police. Negrete is entitled to 1,305 days (about 3.5 years) of jail time credit, according to court documents.
