FORECAST DISCUSSION:
Good Wednesday Evening,
The rain has moved into our area this evening, but temps remain quite a ways from freezing, and this will work in our favor overnight into Thursday morning. Expect rain showers to be the primary precip type overnight with temps staying in mid 30s for lows. It is possible just before daybreak to have some light wet snow mixed in with the cold rain showers mainly north/northwest of the city.
Because of the mild temps (almost 7° above normal on average for November) road surface temps will stay above freezing. This means that any wet snow that does mix in early on Thursday to the north should mainly melt on roads, but could be slushy in grassy spots early Thursday. Thursday mid-late morning this moisture will move away from our area, and temps will slowly climb to the lower 40s.
Cold air will slide in Thursday night, with temps about 5 degrees below normal, but we will struggle to warm on Friday with cloudy skies, a few (non-accumulating) snow flurries around, and highs just above freezing in the lower 30s. Skies will clear a bit Friday night, which will allow temps to drop to the upper teens to near 20. Saturday will be cold and bright, with highs in the lower 30s.
We will see partly cloudy skies on Sunday with highs around 30. Next week is going to look and feel much like early December, with a mix of sun and clouds, temps will start in the upper teens, and climb to the lower 30s Monday and Tuesday, and should push into the middle 30s on Wednesday with more clouds, and potentially a few snow showers in the northeast part of the state.
