SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The busiest travel day for drivers this Thanksgiving holiday has arrived.
Close to 6 million people in Southern California alone are expected to be driving 50 miles or more to their destinations on Wednesday, according to AAA projections.

Travel experts say the 15 freeway north of Temecula will be jampacked as San Diegans head out of town and visitors come into town.
Additionally, the 5 freeway between Los Angeles and Bakersfield is expected to see the worst congestion of all Wednesday night.
San Diegans headed into Mexico are also expected to encounter a lot of traffic.
For those who have yet to leave, waiting until tomorrow morning might be wiser as AAA expects the least congestion for the holiday to be the morning of Thanksgiving Day.
Be patient out on the roads and get to your destinations safely.
