Steamship Authority: Seastreak cancelled services due to license not being renewed
Nov 27, 2024
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — Seastreak has cancelled all ferry services between Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard and New Bedford until Sunday.
Services will be cancelled starting today, until Sunday, Dec. 1.
According to the Steamship Authority though, the cancellations are due to a mistake by the company.
“Seastreak did not get its application in on time for it to be placed on the meeting agenda far enough in advance for the license to be renewed to operate for Thanksgiving week,” said Steamship Authority in a message to customers.
“This was a Seastreak mistake and not something that the Steamship Authority has caused,” the message further stated.
According to the Steamship Authority, the license needs to be renewed every few years and there is a process that requires the renewal application to be placed on the board meeting agenda.
