MidCity multiunit home fire displaces 15 people

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Firefighters have responded to a fire at two large multi-unit homes in the Mid-City neighborhood of New Orleans on Wednesday, Nov. 27. The fire displaced 15 people.
According to the New Orleans Fire Department, the fire, which happened in the 200 block of Norman C. Francis Parkway, was reported at 2:17 a.m., with firefighters arriving on scene at 2:21 a.m.

On scene, two buildings, identified as a triplex at 224 North N.C. Francis and a quadplex at 216 North N.C. Francis, were already "heavily involved."
Residents reported that all occupants of the building were successfully evacuated.
By 5:16 a.m., 21 NOFD units with the support of 52 Fire Operations personnel were able to bring the fire under control. No firefighters were reported to have sustained any injuries.

Three residents were treated by emergency services and taken for further observation. Two of the residents were women, treated for smoke inhalation, and the third resident was a man who sustained burns to his back after going back inside the building and saving his dog.
Information sought in Thibodaux homicide investigation
The New Orleans Police Department and Entergy Gas and Electric also assisted in mitigating the incident. The American Red Cross has been requested to help the 15 residents who were displaced by the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, although preliminary investigation suggests that it started in or near the first floor of the quadplex.
